TESTIMONIALS
Salsa caleña or cali salsa was developed in Cali, Colombia. What makes it different from other styles of salsa (casino/cuban, LA, etc) is its fast pace and intricate footwork that add dynamism and even more fun to every song
WHAT can you expect from the course?
We’ll be focusing on SOLO work without partners.
We’ll start with the fundamentals of this beautiful style, and go through their intricate and challenging footwork one step at a time.
You’ll be surprised how something that looks complex can be learnt quicker when you divide it into smaller steps!
We’ll work the fluidity of the upper body, focusing on how to move your hips, shoulders and arms, which is what gives flavour and allows to style your movements.
My classes are desgined to build progresively one after the other. This is for you to take in the steps without getting overwhlemed and to understand how dancing involves the whole body, not just your feet! :) You will be surprised of how much you’re capable of learning.
(And if you don’t believe, just go and me check the testimonials above!)
BY THE END OF THE COURSE
You will know the fundamental steps of salsa caleña
You would have learnt choreographies to show that :)
You also will learn the super basics for improvisation, which will further develop in the following courses.
You will definitely feel more confident in your dancing!

MY DANCE JOURNEY
If you don’t know me yet, welcome, I’m Olga.
You could say my story with dancing was love at first sight - as from just two years old I used to dance to whatever sounds were around me: music, tv adverts, the radio.
It all started back in my original country, Spain, when with 4 years old, I started dancing Spanish dances and flamenco classes. I quickly fell in love with its strength and passion, and I kept training and performing until I was 15, when sadly, due to personal circumstances I had to leave it temporarily.
I took that opportunity away from flamenco to become versatile in other styles - street dances, hip-hop and funky, until my mid twenties. And always amazed by the vast variety of styles that I yet didn’t know, once I moved to the UK in 2016, I decided to keep learning more about contemporary, jazz, dancehall, african, latins and jazz funk.
During the pandemic, my love for dancing increased even further. I realised dancing was my medicine, and that no matter wherever I am in the world, dance is what connects me to my body and soul, it’s just what makes me feel more alive.
With this new mindset and reailisation, not only I came back to my flamenco roots in 2022, but I also became mesmerized by the world of salsa, specifically of salsa caleña, which I started training online with the academy World Dance Stars (Estrellas Mundiales de la salsa - EMD*) in Barcelona, Spain.
This style, with its dynamism and pace reminded me of my love for challenging footwork, at the same time that spoke to my emotions with its elegant salsa base movement. It’s because of that rekindled passion that In 2023 I decided to embrace it all. In May of that year I’ve got my Dance Teaching Diploma at Dance Revolution, in Sheffield, UK. And in July 2023, I inmersed myself in an in person Intensive summer trainning in Salsa Caleña with the same academy, where I received a diploma for the completion of the course facilitated by Steffany Moreno, 4 times Salsa World Champion.
This experience had a deep mark in my heart, connecting me to a need I didn’t realize it had always been there: bringing dance and joy to others while sharing my love for movement.
This is the reason for my dance classes and this workshop you’re considering joining. Those who personally know me would tell you that I forget everything when I dance, I feel lighter from inside out and I feel connected to life and the present moment.
This is what I want for you too, because there are no words that can convey the feeling of your own body merging with the music. And because celebrating we’re always learning is what keep us alive.
I hope I get to meet you and dance with you in this beautiful workshop,
Until then, please take an online spanish hug your way!
Thank you for reading until here,
Olga
